Synopsis

Drawing on research conducted by SMU faculty, this workshop introduces the scientific basis of mindfulness. Participants will be introduced to formal and informal mindfulness practices targeted at well-being and effectiveness at work. By bringing an open awareness to our own thoughts, emotions, choices, actions and habits, we can learn to work with less exhaustion and greater productivity. Participants will also learn how to communicate more empathically and authentically, build trust and lead more effectively in this digitally challenging era.

Synopsis

Companies are amassing larger and larger amounts of data, storing them in bigger and bigger databases. The Internet is generating huge amounts of data every second; every time we click on a link or visit a website, we leave a digital footprint. To be effective in today’s competitive business environment, we need to draw business insights from both structured and unstructured data to allow managers to make data-driven decisions. This workshop is about data analytics techniques and data-driven business knowledge discovery. It aims to provide an overview of the principles, concepts, and practices of data mining and machine learning, with the goal of discovering knowledge and actionable insights by analysing business data as well a social media data.
